TARRICE LOVE - PHOTOGRAPHER: ... PLAY THE GAME.

I am curious to know if any other artists out there agree with this idea of "Playing the Game." It's talking about how black artists feel they must show a Caucasian image to be successful. I'm curious for opinions on this.

Peace Corp?

So, I have been having a bit of a Quarter Life Crisis..I've been feeling like maybe I need to get out...like I need to see the world and experience something to help my creativity and do something worthwhile. A very new yet dear friend of mine has been telling me of her trip to Guyana through the Peace Corp. Along with some other things I have found inspiring, and some other personal goals I have in life, I think this may be a very beneficial next step for me.

So I am starting the application! Hopefully somewhere in the next year I'll set sail on an adventure. I am hoping it'll help me with some inspiration and time to experiment as well as see something other than the modern world and help someone out at the same time. Plus I think if I document everything it'll lead to some great discoveries! Wish me luck and stay tuned!

Beyonce on her Album 4

I have loved this woman since she was in Destiny's Child. I love her and her music, but this makes you appreciate her more. From an artists stand point its refreshing to see how she struggles too. I have had many experiences in the past three years with my masters program where I needed a wake up call. Where I needed a huge break to slow down and reorganize...
And in the past few months, I have learned to self manage. So this is something that I intend to hold dear to my heart for inspiration and motivation.

Inspiration

So I have been a little down on myself recently..all this adjustment after graduating, so I went to a friends house and it was a very refreshing evening.
She lives in Russian Hill and her view is amazing...she, her son and another of my friends, and I  cooked a wonderful dinner and sipped drinks and chatted on the roof while the sun went down over the Golden Gate Bridge.
Photobucket But most refreshing was a quote she had on her window and my commute home through her neighborhood this morning.
Photobucket
"Wake up and find something beautiful to embrace." So I took the quote to heart and shot some photos on my walk through her area...
Photobucket
I am slowly feeling better about my creativity which I have felt was lacking even before I graduated...let's see how things go!

Til next time!

Fashion Shows so far (F/W 2011)

So here are some of my favorites from the shows in Paris and Milan for Fall/Winter 2011.(All Photos from Style.com)

From Paris I loved Hermes for the clean looks that are both sophisticated and still somewhat youthful...I've desired such a look for my own personal style.
Photobucket

Also in Paris was John Paul Gaultier. While some of his stuff was a little over the top, some of his playing with the Bond Idea was fun to me. I really liked the neoprene and of course the short shorts are a weakness lol
Photobucket

From Milan I had more Favorites
Trussardi 1911's Collection made entirely of Leather intrigued me. While it will most certainly have my vegan friends going nuts, I love the idea of a white vneck in a soft leather..it sounds amazingly luxurious and comfy at the same time
Photobucket

Burberry who's collection I usually love all around threw me a little for a loop. I felt like Burberry and Jil Sander collaborated a bit or something to get some of the rounded shapes...nonetheless I still loved the color and some of their more tailored pieces.
Photobucket

Alexander McQueen's collection was intriguing in that is has a lot of elements I really like but might not have thought to combine, such as the naval influence, with the asymmetrical closures. All in all, loved it!
Photobucket

To round out my favorites, I really enjoyed Versace's collection. The layering was fun to me, and that blue they used caught my attention immediately! I was also lucky enough to come across the fact that they were broadcasting the show live on facebook, so I saw some of the pieces in action!

365 Catch Up

So I have continued to take a photo everyday...some are rather trivial and some are fun, or I tried to compose them..and some are group shots of my friends on outings..anyhow, here they are.

Photobucket
This is from 1/15/2011. Me and some of my friends getting ready for a night out...drinks already happened so I was feeling like a silly photo!

Photobucket
1/16/2011. Brunch with some of my lovlies! We had so much fun that day with brunch followed by day drinking and partying through the evening...we met tons of people and acted silly all day! by far one of the most fun days I've ever had

Photobucket

1/17/2011. Back to work! I was on a break and noticed the skyline from our windows. I tried to capture it, and failed, but got this kinda cool angle to the photo, so I kept it!

Photobucket

1/18/2011. This doubles as research for a project I am working on. I was testing the fit of some wonderful Shades of Grey clothing for the project I am working on for class!

Photobucket
Photobucket

1/19/2011. Couldn't decide on either..lol So I put both. This was after another therapeutic run out to the beach. I was stretching so the face pic shows my being a little tired after my run, but the one without a clear face pic just seemed like fun composition.

Photobucket
1/20/2011. My Friend Mike and I did some scouting for a gay outing to the Marin Headlands and stopped at the touristy overlook beforehand! I decided to go for silly again..

Photobucket
1/21/2011.Back to work, and just decided to show how overwhelmed I felt by all the stuff to be done..it really wasn't too busy, but I am in charge of the denim that comes through our store, and I only work part time so I have to do all the work for the days I'm not there as well!

Photobucket
1/22/2011. At my friend's house waiting for him to be ready to go...gays are slow as molasses sometimes...I swear. SO I used his cool graphic wall for my photo of the day.

Photobucket
1/23/2011. During the gay outing hike we scouted for earlier in the week! It was a fun hike. We checked out the lighthouse there a few abandoned military bunkers and this amazingly quiet beach, where the sand was more like tiny pebbles...ahhh

Photobucket
1/24/2011. Getting ready for work...I figured I have enough work photos at the moment....so I acted preemptively

Photobucket
1/25/2011. After a long day of work, I wanted to sleep...so I compromised..I laid in bed with my stuffed animal and deliriously did research for my class that starts next week...

YAY! all caught up! A week from now, I'll try and post all my photos from here on!

365 Day Challenge 3&4/365

So my camera was held hostage by my friend for a evening, so I am doing a two for one...

Photobucket

This was a night out on Thursday where I bumped into a lot of my favorites...this was one of those "no random person,I don't need your help to take a photo of my friends...i got mad skills!" I rocked out to some hip hop...which means I danced like I was born to!

Photobucket

This was last night in preparation to go out..which lead to more hip hop, bumping into old and current work buddies, anda dialogue with one of my besties about how we think and relate to people, which admittedly went on too long for but also still feels unresolved to me...haha

365 Day Challenge 2/365

Hi all!

I met up with my classmate and fellow blogger, Fay of FayFriscoLife to catch up after our respective Holidays, and I think I may have gotten her to join me on the 365 Challenge.

Photobucket

It was good to meet up with someone and chat shop talk, as it were!

Big Boys

So my other quick update are some of the things from my last design project...it has a weird mix of things...and I think I need to revisit it and make it a ton better, but anyhow, there is a bit of naval influence, as well as a very minimal Tom of Finland reference (mostly the guy being a little bigger and the skin tight pants in places...:) ) I also included my croquis cuz he is kinda a hottie..lol

Shades of Gray Blazer

So let me begin by saying excuse the super unprofessional photos...haha but I am trying to get more serious about posting, so I'll settle for a little imperfection today. So here are some photos of a blazer I bought from a company called Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen. We sell it at my store and I quite enjoy it! when I bought it the sleeves were a little short (go figure, I do have orangutan arms) and so my coworker taught me this cool way to lengthen the sleeves.

Since it has what was called a mitered corner, i thought I couldn't lengthen it. but we did, by adding contrasting fabric to match the elbow patch, so it looks like a design element...and I've gotten many compliments on that detail alone...:)

so let me know what you guys think!
